Dr. Cruz graduated from St. Norbert’s College in Wisconsin with a bachelor of science in Biology. He served in the Korean War as an artillery captain U. S. Army. Then he attended medical school at the University of Barcelona in Spain and graduated with a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery. He completed his internship at Harper-Grace Hospital in Detroit, and completed his Psychiatric residency and training at Lafayette Clinic, Wayne State Medical University. Dr. Cruz has been a practicing Clinical Psychiatrist since 1966 and has been practicing in Livonia for the majority of those years. He is currently courtesy staff at St. Mary’s Hospital. And has previously practiced at Kingswood Hospital, Metropolitan Hospital, Ardmore Acres Hospital, Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital, Detroit Harbour Light Addiction Program, Maple Grove Hospital, Westland Medical Center, the Department of Mental Health and the Michigan Mental Defender’s office. Dr. Cruz is passionate about nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle and includes nutritional guidance for food as medicine to all his patients. He is married, and has six children. During his free time he loves to prepare paella for his friends and family, loves to read, travel, spend time with his family, and walk his dog Alena. Dr. Cruz provides services in both English and Spanish.
